About Us

Club Coach Weekly prevents isolation, presents ideas and provides inspiration to club coaches throughout the world. This electronic newsletter is written by successful club coaches and is freely available to anyone who wants to improve a Toastmaster club. Please note that these stories complement, but do not replace the quality instruction found in ‘How to Rebuild a Toastmasters Club’. If you became a successful club coach in the 2011-2012 Toastmaster year, please share your story with us. If you’d like to receive weekly notifications of recent publications, please contact us.

Do you have questions about club coaching? Join the D74 Clubs and Coaches Facebook Group. They have a discussion group that supports clubs, asks question and celebrates success. All Toastmasters are welcome to join and contribute to discussions! http://www.facebook.com/groups/2497717050846/

Club Coach Weekly’s Global Team Includes:

John Murphy is a Distinguished Toastmaster and active member of District 8.  John joined Toastmasters in July of 2000 to overcome shyness and stayed because he loves the people.  John’s favorite Toastmaster activity is club coaching.  Club coaches facilitate improvements in low-membership clubs.  These clubs provide many opportunities for individuals to practice, learn and improve their communication and leadership skills.  Although the statistical data are limited, many coaches are unsuccessful.  To improve the odds, John co-created Club Coach Weekly in 2010.  He may be contacted at john.murphy@dist8tm.org.

Lois Strachan is a Distinguished Toastmaster and a Past District 74 Governor.  She has been a member of Toastmasters since 2000 and is a member of four clubs in Cape Town, Southern Africa.  For the past 3 years Lois has served as Club Support Coordinator for District 74, serving as a resource and mentor for  district officers, club and coaches in the district.  She achieved her first DTM in 2005 and a second in 2010.  Lois is the creator and moderator of the D74 Clubs and Coaches Facebook group which allows coaches to pose questions and find answers and input to help their coaching.  Lois is currently serving as Public Relations Officer for Club Coach Weekly and can be contacted on lois@loisstrachan.com.

Mike Raffety is a Distinguished Toastmaster, a Past International Director (2008-10), and a Past District 30 (Chicagoland) Governor (2007-08).  Mike has been in Toastmasters for almost 12 years now, and says he stays in it for the people, one meets the nicest people from all walks of life who make it their mission to help you succeed.  He was the first coach in D30 (when he was a Division Governor) and the first to complete the assignment.  He’s a numbers guy at heart, and finds Toastmasters helps bring out the people side as well.  He can be reached at mikeraffety@earthlink.net.
